Split Pea Soup–Tasty Tuesdays!

I love pea soup and the only time I ever make it is after Christmas with the leftover ham.  This past weekend was Split Pea Soup time!  My recipe is extremely easy and really good!

8 Cups of Water

1lb Bag of Dried Split Peas

1/2 Onion Diced

3 Medium Carrots Sliced into Circles

3 Stalks of Celery into 1/2 pieces (I used Celery Seed this year and did it to taste)

2lb of Cooked Ham Cubed

Black Pepper

Salt

Boil peas and water for 2 minutes in a Dutch Oven pan.  Let stand for one hour.  Chop all the vegetables and ham add to the soup.  Let simmer for one hour, skim of any fat.  Continue cooking for another 45 minutes at a simmer.  Salt and Pepper to taste.  Serve.
