Six Month Update

It has officially been six months since my last hospitalization. I can say it has been a long road. I have learned my clot was much larger than the six inches, it was my whole leg. Looking back it was pretty obvious, the cardiograms every few hours. I have been working very hard on my physical therapy, I need to be able to move when I go to Vancouver.

I did find out that insurance caps physical therapy at 40 visits a year. How did I find out? Oh they called me and said my appointments have been cancelled. I called the insurance company, the person was super nice, told me how to file a grievance for more and was very honest it would probably be very unlikely because I have made such progress. I can bend my leg 125 degrees – the goal was 120. I am close to my other leg which is 130. I did inquire why I had to pay a co-pay since I hit my out of pocket. He was like we have been sending them full payment, oh we are calling them right now. Well I have a credit (yay!) but they are unsure if I can use the credit at the physical therapy location. This honestly makes zero sense, but that is just me. I am like okay send me a check and I will join a gym. Well I joined the gym yesterday, I am happy I did. I know my routine, I did it today.

I am walking pretty well, I still take the can with for longer walks. I don’t have the endurance yet. I am hoping working out at the gym on the elliptical will help. I am definitely hoping to improve and maybe even lose a little weight or build some muscles to help with getting older.

So six months post-op I think I am doing pretty well, despite the enhanced sense of smell and stairs still suck.
