My daughter loves pinwheels, we have several around the house and yard. Since I believe spring has finally arrived, I thought today would be a prefect day to make pinwheels. Not just any pinwheels but St. Patrick’s Day pinwheels that any leprechaun would be lucky to own.
What you will need to get started:
1 piece of 8.5 x 8.5″ poster board or card stock
A Ruler
A New Pencil with Eraser
Push Pin or straight pin
Crayons or Markers* for decorating the pinwheel
*Note if using shiny Poster Board don’t use washable markers because it will smear.
Poster Board cut to 8.5 x 8.5″
Measure down 4 1/4″ on all sides connect lines. Then draw lines from corner to corner making a X across the paper.
Let your helper color the pinwheel.
Finished coloring both sides…
Cut paper on the X and leave about an inch to the center.
Fold and pin to eraser. For the record I gave the pinwheel to my daughter and she promptly told me it didn’t spin. So I’m going to use a straight pin opposed to a push pin and hopefully it will spin how she wants it.
