Every year we get cheap, ugly advertisement magnets on our phone books, I never want to throw them away because I always say I’m going to do something with them. This morning I got inspired, I was cleaning and I came across some of the PrincessE’s paintings and decided to stop what I was doing and make Magnet Frames for my fridge. These would also make a great addition to any grandparent’s fridge or a metal filing cabinet at work.
Materials:
Cheap Magnet
Mod Podge
Pencil
Brush
Exacto Knife
Metal Ruler
Painting or Drawing
Wallet Size Photo
*Self Healing Cutting Mat
*Optional – but highly recommended
Trace magnet on the drawing or painting, cut out.
On the backside of the drawing or painting make lines for the mat (for my magnet – I did 1″ for top and bottom and 1/2″ for sides.)
Cut out the center of the square with an Exacto Knife and metal ruler.
Apply a thin coat of Mod Podge to the outside of the magnet, place “mat” on the magnet and cover with Mod Podge.
Let dry (about 20 minutes) and cut out the center magnet with an Exacto Knife and metal ruler.
Put picture behind the “frame” and place magnet on refrigerator, stand back to admire your work.
Time to complete: 30 minutes max (that is with drying time for Mod Podge)
