I admit I am quite busy but I really enjoy my Design Team Work because it forces me to create something whether is it clay, resin or both. I decided I needed a little paper in my life so I am entering a submission for the Robin Nest Design Team.
I love making books every time I make one I forget how much fun and relaxing it really is.
The last time I created one I did an in depth Tutorial since it has been written already (click the picture above) I am not going to retype it I am however going to show how to personalize with paper.
Since this is a calendar I really needed a nice printable calendar that I got as a free download from www.craftysecrets.com. My goal with this project was to recycle as much paper as possible and really create a unique calendar for one of my dearest friends for Christmas.
Materials:
Book (you can either make it from scratch or buy a pre-made one)
Mulberry Paper (I used black with gold thread in it)
Liquitex® Matte Gel Medium (I used this like Mod Podge®)
Glossy Accents™
Scrap Paper (mine is from a Thesaurus)
Scissor
Exacto Knife
Metal Ruler
Paint
Ink
5/8″ Dauber
Half of a Make-up Sponge
Glue
Different colored pens
NOTE: I covered my front and back covers with Mulberry Paper and the inside scrap paper before I drilled my holes.
Outside – I used the black Mulberry Paper, Cinnamon Dental Floss and Light Pink Ribbon. 2012 used Glossy Accents to complete the outside.
January – Light Blue scrap paper
February – Pink scrap paper
March – Green scrap paper
April – Blue scrap paper punch with drop shaped punch
May – Flower shape stamped with dauber using Tim Holtz Ink: Broken China, Peeled Paint, Victorian Velvet. I also used white paint over the ink to lighten it.
June – Scrap Thesaurus pages painted with white paint
July – I used half a make-up up sponge to create the red and blue squares. The white squares were scrap Thesaurus paper. I painted over them with white paint.
August – The yellow was stamped with yellow dye ink using a dauber.
September – was created with scrap paper from January, March and June.
October – I used PLAID Glow in the dark orange paint with the dauber to create my pumpkins.
November – I used Tim Holtz Tea Dye Ink with a dauber to create the circles and I drew the details with colored pens.
December – I used the dauber with silver acrylic paint. The background was stamped with snowflakes with Tim Holtz Broken China Ink.
Filler pages – I weaved scrap paper and painted white paint over for writing area.
I used scrap paper and painted over the words with white paint.
I used a flower cookie cutter to create the flower shape that I painted with white paint.
