Tasty Tuesday = Sweet Potato Chewies (Doggie)

Honestly I have no idea what they are called but Chewies is what I am calling them.  When we were at the Pet Shop this weekend we looked at some gourmet doggie treats.  One of the items I saw was for some Sweet Potato Chew Things (think pigs ears, etc.) honestly all they were were dried Sweet Potatoes but the were $20 a bag.  I couldn’t believe it I told Jeff we have Sweet Potatoes at home I am so making them for her.  I Googled homemade dog treats when I got home and I found this recipe from Dog Treat Kitchen (I am not sure what is wrong with the site I keep getting a Maleware warning).

Ingredients:

  • Sweet Potato
  • Parchment Paper

I took one of my sweet potatoes I cut them into 1/4″ slices (be careful because they are hard to cut).  Line a pan with Parchment Paper, place sweet potatoes on the pan and place into a 250 degree oven for 3 hours (mine took a lot longer because I cut mine a little thicker.)  Allow to cool before giving to your pet.  Store in the refrigerator for 4 weeks.

I am having some issues uploading the photos so I will update with a photo a little later.  I hope your doggies loves them as much as mine does!
