Labor Day, today is officially my son’s 1st birthday and the MDA Telethon, which means no school and no hubby today (because of the telethon). My daughter has been talking about rainbows this week, so I thought it would be a prefect opportunity to share my knowledge on color.
My idea originally was to just to this with water but she wanted yogurt, so it shifted from colored water to colored yogurt.

Vanilla yogurt – 1/4 cup in each of the 3 glasses |
Food coloring – Red, Yellow, and Blue added to the Vanilla Yogurt |
Red, Yellow, and Blue Yogurt after stirring |
Let the mixing begin – Making orange yogurt |
Making green yogurt |
Mixing purple |
As you can see the green yogurt was enjoyed a little too much. |
It was a tasty treat and we learned about primary colors: red, yellow, and blue. We then mixed secondary colors: orange, green, and purple. Once conducting our color experiment we got to eat our tasty treat! Not bad for a quick lesson on color theory.
