4 Egg Yellow Cake
1 CUP Shortening
2 CUP White Sugar
2 TSP Vanilla Extract
2 3/4 CUP All Purpose Flour
3 TSP Baking Soda
1 TSP Salt
1 3/4 CUP Milk
1/2-1 CUP Sprinkles****
Pre-heat oven to 350. Grease and flour cake pans or set out the cupcake liners.
Cream together shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs (one at a time) and add vanilla. In seperate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt (if using sprinkles add here). Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Mix well.
Pour batter into prepared pan(s) or liners.
Bake 9×13 cake 45 minutes
Bake (2) 9″ cakes 30 minutes
Cupcakes 15 – 20 minutes
Do toothpick test to ensure cake, cupcakes are done.
Cool add your favorite frosting.
This is a very good (easy) basic yellow cake takes about 10 minutes to whip together. I have been making this recipe for 3 years now and always get rave reviews when I do it. Honestly it takes the same amount of time to cut open a box and I get to use George my Kitchen Aid Mixer. When I don’t use this recipe and buy a box cake (which I have done and will do again) I always get the your yellow cake recipe is so much better.
