I ordered my felt for the felt tent from Fabric.com (I hope I ordered enough – I will find out on Tuesday.) I have been sketching the “plan” for the tent for three weeks and I think I finally have a “Real” plan for it. So much so I started cutting out the other panels for the tent.
The first sketches of the Felt Tent
What the sketches look like now. Decoding my shorthand PAB = Peek – A – Boo. My son is fascinated with anything Peek – A – Boo so I thought it would be cute to have things “hiding” for him to discover. I also decided to make a little Tic – Tac – Toe board so he could play Tic – Tac – Toe. The pockets will hold the letters.
This sketch scanned crooked but it gives you an idea of what I am planning. I am adding a Gnome (I personally think Gnomes are creepy but I think it will be cute as a Peek – A – Boo thing) like the Travelocity Gnome to the Ticket one. I am also thinking of adding yarn to make it so you can wrap your destination around pegs. I am still on the fence about this idea. If I do it I am marking the capitals with brads and attaching the map to cardboard.
I have the trunk of the tree finished with the squirrel peeking through. I was going to do a a ton of detail on him but decided a silhouette works just fine. I scanned the actual squirrel in.
I am trying to get enough pieces done so when the felt does come I can glue/sew the items on and hopefully I will be done with this before my son is in college – lol.
