As we sit on our porches, decks, etc. to watch fireworks, enjoy family and friends on this Fourth of July to celebrate our Country’s Independence remember why we are here and how we got here. We are here because in 1776 a group of gentlemen got together one hot summer in Philadelphia and worked tirelessly to write and sign a document that each knew would get them killed if they lost this fight. Many years, trials and tribulations later Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown and a country was born. That was not the end of our Country’s struggles a great Civil War that tore this country apart, a Presidential assassination (unfortunately not the last), two World Wars, a conflict, a horrific terrorist attack on our own soil and two wars that we are currently involved in has made us the Country we are today. Our struggle for Independence has been long and bloody, we must not forget all the men and women who have fought and died for this Country’s Independence.
Happy Independence Day! To all the men and women who are serving, who have served, who did not make it home and their families for the burden you bare for the rest of us – THANK YOU!
