It is Spring Break which means I have been trying very hard to keep the kids occupied without electronics (TV or Kindle). The Princess pointed out our house lacks of St. Patrick’s Day Decor and we needed to make some. I told her to come up with some ideas and we would make it. The project she came up with was rainbow ribbon, twisted and had gold pots hanging from it. One problem mom does not have every color of ribbon in the thickness she wanted (I had red) I told her there had to be a way to make her idea with paper. After a while she came back and asked if we could do a rainbow chain with the gold pots. I told her yes and with the paper chain the Booga could help too.
Materials:
- 1 Red Card Stock cut into 1″ strips (you need 11 strips so you want your paper Portrait)
- 1 Orange Card Stock cut into 1″ strips (you need 11 strips so you want your paper Portrait)
- 1 Yellow Card Stock cut into 1″ strips (you need 11 strips so you want your paper Portrait)
- 1 Green Card Stock cut into 1″ strips (you need 11 strips so you want your paper Portrait)
- 1 Blue Card Stock cut into 1″ strips (you need 11 strips so you want your paper Portrait)
- 1 Purple Card Stock cut into 1″ strips (you need 11 strips so you want your paper Portrait)
- Glue Stick
- White Glue
- Tape (for reinforcement)
- Stapler
- 6 – 4″x 4″ Black Card Stock
- Black Extreme Glitter and Paint Brush
- Gold Glitter
- 3 – 10″ piece of Ribbon (any color we used Ivory)
Note: I cut the strips with my Fiskars Paper Cutter so I wouldn’t have fighting on how the other was cutting the strips (this also went very quickly).
Taking the red strip we created a circle and glued it together with a glue stick. Repeat this process with the colors of the rainbows, eight times. The remaining 3 were left separate to hang the gold pots from. Taking the chain find center and attach one of the 3 extra rainbow chains. Find the middle between the left side and center attach one of the rainbow chains. Repeat on the other side. Once the chain has been secured with tape start on creating the gold pot.
My daughter drew the pot and cut it out and we used that as our template for the other five pots.
Take Extreme black glitter and painted the card stock to make it shiny.
Once that was dry add white glue and gold glitter for the gold.
Gluing ribbon to the back side of the pot glue two pots together creating a very glittery front and back. Once the pots dry attach to the 3 rainbow chains that hang down.
